This past weekend I was camping in the Wildcat Mountain State Park near Ontario, WI. Although dealing with the over abundance of flies and gnats was a challenge, it was a great time spent outdoors with great people! On Friday, we paddled the Kickapoo River 12 miles (bridge 10), taking approximately 5 hours through some amazing scenery of bluffs and foliage. Yes, there were some difficult times traversing the shallow river, fallen trees, and unskilled paddlers (in kayaks and canoes), but I wouldn’t want it any other way! There is something to be said for an adventure that brings folks together that were previously unknown but within days feel like family…
Today my grandchildren will be getting baptized…a serious undertaking. Regardless of one’s personal belief systems, an outward showing of one’s faith is to be extolled and not vitiated. Of course, this depends on the content of that belief system. I applaud them and encourage their continued growth in the spirit of Christianity.
Going to Wildcat Mountain State Park for kayaking, camping and hiking!
Hiking through Deer Glen was invigorating! About 5.6 miles through forest in 30 degree weather was just what the doctor ordered!
Took my first Tai Chi class on Sunday, February 5th, 2017. Since I have quite few years experience, it was much of the same as far as the basic foundation is concerned (i.e., stances, movement, breathing). I think I will enjoy the exercise, even if it is called “the old man’s martial art”!
Up early and hitting the gym! A little coffee, a little stretching…and some lite reading to get the brain pumping too.
